New Orlando Pirates rightback Rooi Mohamutsa is excited by his move to the Buccaneers and is adamant he will add value to the team in the new season.
"Obviously I'm happy to be a Buccaneer and I want to help them to fare well in the new season," said Mohamutsa, who was snatched from ambitious National First Division side Witbank Spurs last week.
The 26-year-old scored the only goal when Amabinneplaas, the South African national development team, beat Namibia 1-0 in the Cosafa Senior Challenge quarterfinal match in Witbank on Saturday.
The recently-employed Pirates coach, Rudi Krol, should be happy with Mohamutsa after watching him playing a blinder on Saturday.
Krol, however, refused to speak to Sowetan when approached to comment about the match at the stadium.
Mohamutsa, though also reluctant to speak to Sowetan, stressed that Pirates have the potential to cause a stir in the Absa Premiership this season.
"I have joined a team that has players with big hearts and I'm highly motivated by that," he said.
Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka, Amabinneplaas coach, described Mohamutsa as a talented player who could play for any team at the highest level in the country. Letsoaka is also adamant his charges have what it takes to defend their title.
"It is good and encouraging that we are through to the semifinals and we will continue to fight tirelessly to ensure that we play in the final and defend our title," he told Sowetan.
South Africa will play the winners between Zimbabwe and Angola at Thulamahashe Stadium in Bushbuckridge on Wednesday.
The two played in Secunda late yesterday.
Namibia's Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet said they lost the match because of a lapse in concentration, especially at the back.
"We allowed South Africa to dictate terms to us and we could not have won the match the way we played. But this tournament has helped me to assess my players," said Saintfiet, who was appointed coach 10 days before the tournament.
