Six Limpopo pupils might miss out on an opportunity of a lifetime if they do not get funding for a US leadership programme.

Grades 6 and 7 pupils Charity Sebone, Moditsa Rampya, Dalthia Mojela, Daphney Tsebatseba, Thabiso Thobakgale and Ramaite Masipa of the Lephalala Primary School in Botlokwa were selected for the People to People Student Leader Programme in Washington in September.

Unfortunately they do not have the travel funds.

Each pupil needs at least R30000 for travel expenses, uniforms, passports and visas.

Principal Maila Machaba said: "A teacher entered the pupils for the programme but we do not have the money to send them.

"We have asked for donations and also had fund-raising events, but the money is still not enough."
