Free State's top boxing promoter Blacky Seoe has not become a saviour only to a number of champions who would still be earning peanuts had he not ventured into this fight game.
But this successful businessman, who caused a stir early this year after signing top fighters by declaring that none of his champions would earn less than R100000, has also become a messiah to former three-time world champion Lehlohonolo "Hands of Stone" Ledwaba.
Nobody has bothered to come to Ledwaba's aid since his illustrious career, which started in 1990, ended last August due to a detached retina.
Recently promoter Branco Milenkovic played a momentous role in helping Ledwaba to get his disability grant from the International Boxing Foundation (IBF).
Now Seoe has followed suit by opening up a boxing club for his boxers in Bloemfontein and Ledwaba is the head trainer.
The former WBU bantamweight, SA and IBF junior featherweight and WBU featherweight title holder, who turns 38 next Monday, trains Tshepang Mohale and Nelson Mtshali (champions in last year's Baby Champs), Christopher Mayekiso and Bongani Dlamini.
"I've been given a second lifeline by Blacky. I appreciate working with him. He is very supportive. I don't have much to say now. I can only tell you that I work with boxers who are hard-working, dedicated and good listeners. This makes it easy for me to teach boxing," said the Sowetan who is now based in Free State.
Seoe operates under the boxing promotional banner of Robs Boxing Promotions which boasts William "The Destroyer" Gare (WBF super middleweight champion), Khotso "Masterpiece" Motau (SA super middleweight holder), Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase (SA welterweight champ), Sam "K5" Malinga (reigning SA junior welterweight king), Tshifhiwa "The Atomic Spider) Munyai (WBA Intercontinental bantamweight champ), Bongani "Dancing Shoes" Mahlangu (WBA Pan African bantamweight holder) as well as recently crowned SA mini flyweight king Gideon Buthelezi.
Malinga and Motau, who are trained in Gauteng by Stanley Ndlovu, have just joined Seoe's growing empire.
