Sowetan must be congratulated by all decent people and those who value the wellbeing of all people for the exposé of gross and arrogant violations committed by the police against sex workers.
Your persistent placing of the matter on the front page is a shining example of committed journalism.
But I really wonder why you insist on calling sex workers prostitutes?
The latter is laden with all sorts of backward moral and judgmental connotations that reproduce hate and dehumanisation.
I appeal to your newspaper to consider changing policy and stop using the vile "prostitute" and instead use the more acceptable "sex worker".
