Mpumalanga premier Thabang Makwetla was involved in a car accident in Nelspruit shortly after lunch yesterday.

Witnesses say Makwetla was inside his official car, blue lights flashing, when his driver "raced through a red robot".

Sowetan has it on good authority that Makwetla was not injured when the government vehicle collided with another vehicle near the Crossings business centre. His driver was slightly injured. - Riot Hlatshwayo
