Six women's teams will cross swords at this year's Philips Zodwa Khoza Memorial Cup that kicks off in Soweto on Saturday.

The tournament will be hosted by Safa Soweto and bankrolled by Philips SA.

Phil Mogodi, Safa Soweto president, said the objective of the tournament is to celebrate the life of the late Zodwa Khoza, who was Orlando Pirates' brand manager.

The daughter of Irvin Khoza, Bucs boss and LOC chairman, died in 2006.

"The charismatic Zodwa was an active, courageous and a visionary woman who succeeded in the male-dominated sport," said Mogodi.

"She was influential in Safa Soweto acquiring sponsorship towards the development of the junior league. Hence today, our association is regarded as one of the most successful local football organisations within Safa."

Fabulous Ladies, Nigel Ladies, Pimville Fast XI, Mohlakeng Parma, Colchester and All Stars will vie for glory in the tournament.

It will be divided into two streams and played on a round robin basis on Saturdays. The top teams in each group will go through to the final scheduled for White City Ground on Women's Day (August 9).

The winner gets R10000, gold medals and a trophy while the runners-up will collect R5000 and silver medals.

Only two games will be played on Saturday at Power Park with defending champions Fabulous facing Parma at noon while Fast XI take on Colchester at 2pm.
