The new public protector says she will leave the dispute over the state capture report prepared by h.
About 50 families of the Magagula Heights informal settlement in Ekurhuleni have spent 13 years patiently waiting for the government to build the houses that they were promised.
"I have accepted that I will die before I move into my house," was the cry from Masa Mofokeng, who has waited for 13 years for her RDP house to be built.
Mofokeng, 54, told Sowetan yesterday that FEFE Builders, who were contracted to build houses in the area, left before hers was built.
Other residents complained that FEFE only dug trenches in their yards, which they have had to close because there was no building taking place.
Ekurhuleni project manager Abrie Lorenzen said: "These were not exactly RDP houses. They were built by private developers.
"The (housing) department has since taken a decision to finish those houses from April 1," Lorenzen said.
