Six men linked to a spate of copper wire thefts in the Newcastle area were arrested yesterday morning.
The thieves were also desecrating tomb stones in local cemeteries and removing the copper mounted on tombstones.
The suspects, aged between 23 and 48 years, were caught red handed with the stolen copper.
Police spokesman Shooz Magudulela said police managed to arrest all six suspects and recovered six kilograms of the stolen copper. - Mhlaba Memela
