Chesa Mpama won the inaugural Mookgopong Mayoral Soccer Tournament when they thrashed All Stars 4-3 at Mookgopong Stadium on Sunday.
The tournament was organised by the municipality in conjunction with the local Safa structure and was aimed at forging unity among members of the once trouble-torn community.
Chesa Mpama pipped Real Madrid 2-1 in the semifinal on Saturday, while All Stars beat Vukuzenzele 4-1 in the other semi. Real Madrid redeemed their tarnished image by beating Vukuzenzele 3-1 to secure bronze.
Chesa Mpama were made to sweat in the final, where they edged All Stars 3-2 on penalties, after the two played to a 1-all draw during regulation time.
Sara Lamola, the Mookgopong municipal mayor, was happy to see to the youth participating in sport, and that they were "away from irresponsible activities".
