Four people died instantly yesterday when two vehicles collided in Northriding, Johannesburg.

The accident happened at about 5.15am. Johannesburg Metro police spokesman Wayne Minnaar said it involved a Lamborghini that belonged to Bret Scott.

"We are hoping to talk to the Scott family soon," Minnaar said. "All we have established about the three occupants of the Golf is that they were employees of Top Security.

"We don't know where the company is based but we hope to find it soon."

ER24 spokesman Riana Beech said the two cars collided along Witkoppen road, in Fourways, north of Johannesburg. A section of the Witkoppen road between New Market and Malibongwe Drive was closed to traffic.

Meanwhile, Sapa reports that one person was killed and eight were injured after five vehicles collided on the M1 north on Saturday.

Quoting Johannesburg Metro police the report said a male pedestrian was knocked down by a bakkie on the M1 north after the Xavier off-ramp, and his body flung on to the southbound carriage way.

Five cars collided while attempting to avoid the pedestrian, said Minnaar.

One car crashed into an ambulance on the scene, said Johannesburg emergency services management spokesman Nana Radebe.

"Eight people were injured and two are in a critical condition," said Radebe.
