Suspected serial killer's case postponed

David Rannditsheni, the man accused of the Modimolle serial killings, will appear in the magistrate's court today.

He will be making his second appearance since his arrest on May 16. Rannditsheni, 45, first appeared in the Modimolle court on May 19.

He was not asked to plead to 17 charges that include eight of rape, seven of murder and two of indecent assault.

The incidents happened in the area between 2004 and this year. - Frank Maponya.

l A Mpumalanga father shot and killed his one-year-old grandson and critically wounded his daughter before turning the gun on himself in Barberton.

Joseph Madonsela, 50, and his grandson Tukulu Madonsela, of Verulum mining village, Barberton, died on Tuesday, while Madonsela's daughter Cindy, Tukulu's mother, is in a critical condition at the Barberton General Hospital.

Superintendent Abie Khoabane of the Mpumalanga provincial police confirmed the incident. - McKeed Kotlolo
