The Joburg-based radio station, Metro FM, rocked Durban at the weekend by hosting various events to celebrate its success.

It started on a high note on Thursday night with Afro-jazz sensation Simphiwe Dana and continued that way until Sunday.

Dana left fans begging for more. The show was broadcast live on Eddie Zondi's show, Obsession, from 9pm to midnight.

Metro FM followers enjoyed rubbing shoulders with the station's deejays.

The divine Dana told Sowetan about her love for the jazz-pop-Afro genre.

"I have loved jazz since I was a child. I grew up listening to the sounds of Mariam Makeba and most people say I sound like her," Dana said shyly.

She enchanted the audience with songs from her albums Zandisile and One Love Movement on Bantu Biko Street.

On Friday, the station hosted the Annual Hat Party at the Groove Lounge near Ushaka Marine and for the rest of the weekend it continued similar fun-filled events. Metro FM's Lifestyle Marquee at the Durban Vodacom July was abuzz.

Afro-pop songbird KB gave a stunning performance in the marquee on Saturday.
