Another showdown between combatants from the established Eyethu Gym and the crawling Enothole Club, which are both located in Mdantsane, is imminent.

Eyethu is owned by manager and promoter Mzimase Mnguni while S'Phatho Handi manages and also owns Enothole.

Two weeks ago Mnguni's charge Mfundo Gwayana pulverised Handi's boxer Samora Msophi in four rounds in defending the SA junior flyweight belt.

Sadly though Msophi died two days later at Cecilia Makiwane hospital after being operated on.

Msophi had collapsed after taking a pounding in round four. He will be buried on Sunday at Cambridge cemetery in East London. The service will be at Rubusani Hall, Unit 1 in Mdantsane.

Now Mnguni's other charge, Zukisani "Troublemaker" Kwayiba, will fight Colombian Ronald "El Indio" Barrera in an IBF mini flyweight title eliminator in South Africa on August 29.

The title is held by Mexican Raul "Raito" Garcia who will defend against Jose Luis Varela on August 30.

A source revealed yesterday that Garcia has agreed to fly to South Africa to defend against Nkosinathi "Mabhere" Joyi, in a clash scheduled for November 21 in East London.

Barrera is ranked seventh while Kwayiba is one spot below him. A win for Kwayiba will make him a mandatory challenger to face the winner between Joyi and Garcia.

The latter is no pushover and his record of 23 wins (15 KOs) says it all. But pundits have already tipped Joyi (18 wins - 14 KOs), the IBO belt holder, to triumph. If that happens then Kwayiba and Joyi, Handi's fighter, will finally meet.

They have have been at each other's throats for some time.

Meanwhile, the Gauteng Promoters' Association has extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Msophi family on the loss of such a promising boxing talent.
