Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Seasoned stage and television actress Busi Zokufa is the latest celebrity to heed the call of Ubungoma(traditional healer).
Zokufa, 52, who has an established acting profile both locally and internationally, is following in the footsteps of Baby Cele, Latoya Makhene, Aldrin Mogotsi, Noninzi Williams and Sindi Khambule.
She said she first knew about her calling when she was 18.
Speaking to Sowetan while recording her first album, Sisele Sisodwa, Zokufa said she had finally heeded the calling.
"I always knew that my ancestors wanted me to be a healer," she said.
"For the past years I have been making animal sacrifices and brewing umqombothi to communicate with them. Everything was fine until recently when I became seriously ill.
"I am still waiting for my ancestors to lead me to the right person who will train me.
"Before I do everything now I have to burn impepho (incense) and talk to them," she said.
Born into a family of musicians, Zokufa waited for 26 years before she released her debut album.
When she left the Eastern Cape in 1982 she wanted to pursue a music career.
But, that changed when she met theatre practitioner Small Ndaba who introduced her to the theatre.
