Mpho Maleka will not be part of the AmaZulu setup in the new campaign after team manager James Dhlamini informed him, via SMS, that his services were no longer needed.

"I got an SMS from Dhlamini late on Sunday informing me that they will not be renewing my contract, which expired last week," said Maleka yesterday.

"He wrote in the message that they met with all the stakeholders, including coaches and management, where a decision was taken that they stop negotiations with me. This because I'm not part of the technical staff's plans for the new season.

"I felt offended to be informed in the manner that they did. Why inform me through an SMS? They should have handled this matter in a much more professional way. If they did not want to speak to me, they should have at least informed my manager David Moroke.

"But I don't have any grudges with AmaZulu and I wish them the best of luck. I'm happy though that I know where I now stand and my manager will start with an aggressive search for a new team," added the forward who joined the AmaZulu kraal from Dynamos two seasons ago.

He was earlier linked with a move to Moroka Swallows or Thanda Royal Zulu.

Dhlamini could not be reached for comment yesterday.
