Lightning struck twice at the Kempton Park Country Club when Jeff Mnisi became the first black at the club to win two tough club championships in one year.

Mnisi first won the club event in March and made his presence felt again when he won the inaugural Winter Club Championship at the same venue on Sunday.

He first shot a two-under-par 70 on Saturday and the next day he shot a two-over-par 74, bringing his overall score to level par 144.

"I'm very proud and on cloud nine after my achievements this year," Mnisi said.

"Most of the tournaments have been dominated by whites because there are a few black golfers at this club. But I have been working hard on my game and I'm happy that my hard work has paid off in the end."

Mnisi said he was not intimidated by Martin van Tonder, who was leading at one stage before he finished second, one shot behind Mnisi.

Third was Mark Terry and the fourth place was occupied by club captain Craig Bell.
