Matsulu City Movers successfully defended their Sukumani Sidlale title when they defeated Bazooka XI 4-3 on penalties at Matsulu Stadium on Saturday.

The game had ended 2-all in regulation time.

Movers should have wrapped up the game in open play as they dominated from the outset. But some poor finishing in front of goal was their downfall.

To say Bazooka were in the game would be unfair as they spent the whole afternoon defending.

Movers were the first to score through Gift Mthethwa in the 28th minute after a nice cross from Kenneth "Mapholoba" Ngomane on the left.

The goal seemed to spur them on as they attacked in numbers.

In one of their few attacks Bazooka's Sipho Manzini was fouled outside the box in the 35th minute. From the resultant free-kick Mandla Siyenga equalised following a goalmouth scramble.

The match went into recess tied at 1-all.

Movers went ahead again in the 57th minute through Sam Zunguza's thunderous shot. David Magagula equalised for Bazooka in the 68th minute to take the game into the penalty shootout, which Movers won 4-3.

The champions got R10000 and the losers collected R6000.
