THE 53-year-old Angie Motshekga was born in Johannesburg.
She was the Gauteng MEC for social service and population development from 2000 to 2004.
Her work experience includes: a director in the Office of the President from 1994 to 1997; head of the Department of Public Service and Administration's Gender and Public Service Transformation from 1997 to 1999; a lecturer at Wits University from 1985 to 1994 and a lecturer at the Soweto College of Education from 1983 to 1985.
She was also a teacher at Orlando High School from 1981 to 1983.
Motshekga is married to former Gauteng premier Mathole Motshekga and is a known Jacob Zuma supporter.
