The stage has been set for the nine best schools in the country to prove their mettle in the celebrated Kay Motsepe Cup finals which will be held in Mamelodi, Pretoria from July 9 to 12.

Though the competition will be stiff, considering the potential the schools have in their arsenals, Tshikanoshi High School, the Limpopo representative in the national finals of the showpiece, are determined to spring a surprise.

The school, which is based in Moutse West village near Marble Hall, is backed by the Greater Sekhukhune district municipality.

The municipality has donated soccer kit to the school as part of their concerted efforts to motivate the pupils.

"We resolved to give moral support to the school as they will carry the provincial flag in this tournament. It will not be an easy competition out there but we are all confident that our school will not disappoint the province," Dickson Masemola, the municipality's executive mayor, said yesterday.

The players were further encouraged by the municipality when it held a glittering send-off party in Moutse West last Friday.

"All the boys are fired up and ready, willing and able to deliver in Mamelodi," Joe "Chappies" Masalesa, the school's coach, told Sowetan yesterday.

Other provincial winners who will sweat it out in Mamelodi are Meadowlands High of Gauteng, Silindokuhle of KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape's Ntabakulu, Mpumalanga's Sozama, Cloetesville of Western Cape, SA van Wyk of Northern Cape, Michael Modisakeng of North West and Harmony of Free State.
