Celebrating 20 years of existence Reach for a Dream, a foundation with the sole purpose of bringing happiness to children with life-threatening illnesses, will throw a big bash at the Inanda Club in Sandton on July 12.
The gathering will include an art festival. Guests of honour include children with illnesses such as leukaemia, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and HIV-Aids, who will be asked to draw pictures based upon the My Dream theme.
To add to their excitement, Mzansi celebrities and idols will help the children with their drawings.
National advertising and marketing coordinator Sian Gutstadt says: "Over the past 20 years we have fulfilled the dreams of many desperately ill children and proved that if you give children a dream they can conquer obstacles.
"A case in point is Sam Pretorius. At the age of 11 he was diagnosed with leukaemia and we realised his dream to visit Disney World in 1997.
"Sam, who is today 23 years old, teaches English and history at the Overberg High School in Caledon after graduating from Stellenbosch University in 2007."
Similar birthday celebrations will be held in Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and East London.
Art works from these centres will be shipped to Johannesburg and an exhibition of all the work will be held later this year.
