SYDNEY - Australia yesterday advised its citizens to avoid travelling to Zimbabwe because of election-related violence.
Those already in the troubled southern African nation should consider leaving, the department of foreign affairs said.
"We advise you not to travel to Zimbabwe due to the high level of election-related violence, the high level of criminal activity, the absence of the rule of law, and deteriorating economic conditions which could lead to civil unrest," the advisory says.
The move matches growing world outrage over the election process in Zimbabwe, where Robert Mugabe is pressing on with a presidential run-off vote today despite the withdrawal of MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai. - Sapa-AFP
