National Prosecutions boss Vusi Pikoli's management style was too accommodating, Justice Department director general Menzi Simelane said yesterday.
"Regrettably, people in a way took advantage of his good nature," Simelane told the Ginwala Inquiry, which is looking into Pikoli's fitness to hold office, in Johannesburg.
Simelane has claimed there were six instances showing that Pikoli was not fit for the job.
These included permitting overseas trips for a team of investigators not representative of the country's demographics, the delegation of powers, and handling of talks on the proposed integration of the Directorate of Special Investigations (Scorpions) into the police's special investigating unit. - Sapa
