Jazzman prince kupi is laid to rest

Jazz guitarist Prince Kupi was given a send off fit for the jazz prince he was at the weekend.

His funeral on Saturday started with a spirited performance by colleagues and friends at the Funda Centre in Soweto, and culminated in the burial at West Park Cemetery.

Kupi and his wife Zandile Ngcobo died in a car accident a week ago .

Ngcobo, who was an actress, was buried yesterday in KwaZulu-Natal.

The two leave behind a five-year-old son, Bohlokwa.

The funeral was attended by the who's who of showbiz and arts and culture circles.

Among those at the funeral were drummer and saxophonist Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse, Selaelo Selota, jazz music promoter Peter Tladi and Department of Arts and Culture director-general Themba Wakashe.

Cultural activist and SABC commissioning editor S'bu Nxumalo, Mandla Baloyi and family friend and jazz music promoter Mojalefa Gwangwa were also there.

lAlso buried on Saturday was actor and musician Tiny Siluma.

He was laid to rest at the Lenasia Cemetery. Siluma was shot dead at his central Johannesburg flat last week.
