Africa has probably never had as busy a month as this one, with back-to-back games in the run-up to the 2010 Fifa World Cup which we are hosting and the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Angola.
With so many games over any given weekend, it is not possible for many football lovers to catch up with the action. That is why the African Soccer Television Show on SABC Sport's Laduma programme on Sundays becomes a must for the game's connoisseur.
Viewers can catch the highlights of various qualifiers that took place last week and while some will be happy to see positive results, others will wish to switch off as they relive the pain of losses.
Swaziland, with South African Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba at the helm, won their first World Cup qualifier for 15 years in beating Togo 2-1, whose lineup included Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who have also been to World Cup finals tournaments, won their respective games on Sunday. But 2002 quarterfinalists Senegal were held to a 0-0 draw in Gambia.
Samuel Eto'o was among the scorers as Cameroon breezed past hosts Mauritius 3-0 in Group 1. Botswana won 1-0 away from home over Mozambique.
The Fifa Under-20 Women's World Cup qualifiers for the continent are also under way. ASTV will show highlights from west Africa's greatest rivals that saw Ghana being beaten 3-2 by Nigeria.
