A free listing on the JSE's Alternative Exchange is up for grabs for a small or medium enterprise looking to grow its business quickly over the next year.

A group of companies led by international business software and services company SAP yesterday launched the Go4Growth Competition for 2008 where established small businesses are given the chance to expand their business through critical consulting and infrastructure prizes.

Derek Kudsee, SAP director of small business in Africa said: "The true value of the Go4Growth competition is that every company that enters can benefit.

"It's about providing a combination of advice and practical support that really does help entrants grow their business operations," he said.

Last year 205 entrepreneurs entered the inaugural competition where the only prize was the Alternative Exchange listing.

This year's competition aims to expand its appeal through additional benefits including R1million in SAP software; R1million worth of corporate finance advice from Deloitte and Touche; R9million in subsidised Growth Assistance from SAP Growth Services; priority access to the R350million Hasso Plattner Ventures Africa fund, as well as the free listing and consultation from the Alternative Exchange.

The competition closes at the end of September with the winner announced in November.

The competition's website is www.go4growth.co.za.
