Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Described as a "sadistic" killer who must be taken out of the community, the Pretoria high court yesterday sentenced Andrew Jordaan to life imprisonment for the murder of Sheldean Human.
Acting Judge Chris Eksteen told a packed courtroom the court found no circumstances to justify a lesser sentence.
Jordaan, 26, was also sentenced to three years imprisonment for the child's kidnapping and 10 years for her attempted rape. He also got five years for indecent assault and a further 15 years for the rape of Human's friend, in addition to three months for dagga possession.
Eksteen said the court had come to its decision after considering Jordaan's unstable home life, his mother's drinking and his being placed in foster care - and the community's welfare.
"Your actions in this case are sadistic," he said.
"I shudder to think what she went through, she had nobody.
