The Soweto Teddy Bear Clinic for abused children held a pre-winter party at the Protea magistrates' court at the weekend.
Project coordinator Daniel Radebe said the party, which was sponsored by a chain store, was to bring joy to children whose rights had been violated through abuse.
He said the party was held at the court to help reduce anxiety about courts among children.
"We deal with abused children," he said. "Some will appear in court soon and some have already appeared. We also want the children to see that there is fun and a loving world outside of abuse. We wanted them to relax."
Radebe said the clinic depended on sponsors to make these events possible for the children.
