A 29-year-old Ugandan man is expected to appear in the magistrate's court for dealing in counterfeit cash.

The foreign national was arrested on Friday in Frankfort in the Free State. Police said he was in possession of R30600 in false currency.

Police spokesman Sergeant Philani Mvuna said the man was arrested soon after arriving in the province.

Mvuna said: "We have learnt that the man, from Hillbrow in Johannesburg, allegedly conned people in Villiers and Frankfort."

The suspect was found in possession of about 153 fake R200 notes, he said.
