Greg Maloka will finally live his dream.
The former YFM general manager has been appointed managing director of Kaya FM. He will replace Charlene Deacon who has resigned. She leaves at the end of June.
"It is quite an awesome task. Since my days at YFM, I have been working towards my dream - Kaya FM. The station has always been where I wanted to be," Maloka said.
Deacon was also happy to hand over the reigns to Maloka.
"Looking at Kaya FM over the past five years, I think that Charlene has done a wonderful job. It will be quite a daunting task filling her shoes," Maloka added.
Arthur Mashiatshidi, Kaya FM board chairman, said the station had been "growing in leaps and bounds" and Maloka's experience would help grow it even more.
Maloka was part of a team that created YFM. In the nine years he was there, Maloka worked in a number of positions, including sales, programme director and also as general manager of the station from 2003 to 2005.
"But I was never on air," he said.
Maloka plans to immerse himself in the station and learn the business that he has so longed to get into.
"I look forward to joining the team to entrench the brand in the hearts and minds of listeners, advertisers and strategic partners," he added.
