Jaco Bogaards and his wife Bess were charged in the Mokopane high court for allowing Herman Van Rooyen and Rudi Gouws to hide on their farm from May 2006 until January 2007.

Bogaards said after being sentenced on Monday: "We are very relieved that the trial is over and believe we have a chance with the appeal we are going to lodge."

Bogaards will serve three years and Bess two years, suspended for five years if the appeal fails.

Charged under the Terrorism Act, Van Rooyen and Gouws escaped from the Pretoria highcourt in May 2006. - Sapa
