Limpopo parastatal LimDev increased their sponsorship of the yearly Peter Mokaba Memorial Golf tournament from R 120 000 to R170 000.

The increment was noted on Monday during a launch in Polokwane.

LimDev injected the extra R50000 towards Limpopo Golf Association (Lega's) tournament that is aimed at honouring former ANC Youth League president, Mokaba.

LimDev's chief executive Stan Mathabatha says the parastatal is on a mission to turn this provincial tournament into a Southern African Developing Community (SADC) event, as early as May next year.

LimDev has already produced a professional golfer in Willy Baloyi who attended his lessons at Gary Player Golf School of Excellence for three years.

The tournament will be played on June 15 at Polokwane golf course.

Lega's president Nolen Klasen says the sponsorship will be used fruitfully to the benefit of the golfers.

"We are impressed by the giving spirit of the sponsors and we make an undertaking not to disappoint them.

"All our golfers are ready to win the tournament," said Klasen.
