FAMILY CRIES MURDER

The culpable homicide case involving the "accidental shooting" of a man during a night game drive might become one of murder once the postmortem results are known.

This was hinted at by Limpopo police spokesman Ronel Otto yesterday.

Otto said police were still waiting for the postmortem results to be released this week to determine the exact cause of the death of Jackson Matlhase.

The family of the dead man told police yesterday that Matlhase's death was premeditated.

The family said they suspected Matlhase was murdered by those who were with him during the night game drive last week near Alldays.

Family spokesman and the deceased's brother, Vhengani Matlhase, said he went to the mortuary a day after his brother died.

He said his brother's body had "a big open wound in his back and two other open wounds in his chest".

"The first wound in the back shows us that he was shot while trying to run away from his foes," he claimed.

Matlhase's assertion is in contrast with the information initially released by the police.

They said it appeared as if the man was killed by a bullet from a firearm that dropped when the car hit a bump.
