The seven SABC executives who on Monday called for the resignation of the public broadcaster's board have not had a response.

The executives on Monday staged an unprecedented rebellion in support of embattled chief executive, Dali Mpofu.

They wrote a scathing letter to the board, demanding their immediate resignation.

Kaizer Kganyago, speaking on behalf of the concerned executives, told Sowetan last night that they had received no reply from the board.

"We have not yet received any communication from the board with regard to the issues we raised," Kganyago said.

The latest twist to the SABC saga has been precipitated by the board's suspension of Mpofu, who won a court order declaring the action unlawful.

The beleaguered board did not respond to Sowetan enquiries about the latest developments at the SABC.

The board and some executives were yesterday at parliament in Cape Town attending Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe- Casaburri's budget speech.

The minister called for a review of legislation pertaining to the appointment of the board and its relationship with parliament, SAFM reported yesterday.

Meanwhile, the trade union federation Cosatu yesterday called on the SABC board to resign.

"The board must resign now, and make way for a more representative board to take over the public broadcaster, and run it in the interests of the majority of South Africans," said spokesman Patrick Craven.

The call comes a day after the Johannesburg high court refused the board leave to appeal a ruling that its suspension of Mpofu was unlawful.

Craven said Cosatu welcomed the court's decision and noted the memorandum by the executives.
