Jomo Cosmos will bounce back next year

Jomo Cosmos' exit from the PSL has been widely celebrated when in fact Jomo Sono remains the most successful coach in the league.

Jomo Cosmos' exit from the PSL has been widely celebrated when in fact Jomo Sono remains the most successful coach in the league.

Cosmos has carried the second most silverware for the last 10 years after Sundowns.

Yes, Cosmos has been relegated, but this is what soccer hypocrites should remember: since 1993, when he returned to the PSL, Sono has collected every kind of silverware on offer.

Cosmos holds the record of winning the Coca-Cola cup twice and being a runner-up once.

Sono has twice coached Bafana Bafana. He reached the Afcon finals and was the first Bafana coach to win a game on European soil.

Where were these hypocrites when the nation forgot about Sizwe Motaung and Sono raised funds for his medical bills?

Today our national team is led by Aaron Mokoena, who was groomed and sent to Europe by Sono.

When last did we have a national team without any player with the Sono tag?

Hardly two months ago Sono managed to progress past the first round of the Nedbank Cup, a stage that other teams with loud hailers never reached. Check their cupboards for any silverware and you'll find nil.

Jomo Cosmos will bounce back next year and will reach the final of the Nedbank Cup.

As a Cosmos supporter I am not threatened by those waffling about Sono.

Mike Pelle, Rustenburg
