Oude Meester Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz evenings that usually take place monthly at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg is celebrating its seventh anniversary with a killer concert.
Started seven years ago with the aim of giving local artists a platform, the concept has continued with its mission.
Today, this jazz event is one of the most popular concerts in Gauteng.
Jazzman Matlhakgane says: "The intention was to create awareness among Ekurhuleni residents by hosting jazz evenings.
"They are a vehicle to achieving that goal, to prove to the entire province and the country that we are alive, well and kicking."
On Friday night, music lovers will be treated to pure local sounds. Featured in this week's event is diva Letta Mbulu, who will be launching her album called Culani Nami.
Boasting an illustrious musical career of more than 40 years, Mbulu has produced classics that have stood the test of time.
Songs such as Maru A Pula, Not Yet Uhuru, Nomali, Isidwa Namacici and many more are still enjoyed by people at festivals.
She recorded her first album in 1967 titled Letta Mbulu sings in the USA. Mbulu will share the stage with two young South African singers, Vumunu and Aya.
Since its inception, the event has hosted big name artists in the industry.
It has also been a platform to showcase upcoming jazz artists.
Some of the artists who have performed at the jazz evening event before include Bhudaza, Vusi Mhlongo, Ringo Madlingozi, Lesego, Sibongile Khumalo, Nokukhanya, Swazi Dlamini, Tshepo Tshola, Julian Bahule, Don Laka, and Labantu.
The jazz event presents you with a corporate atmosphere in a jazz environment and offers a real lifestyle experience.
