Limpopo Eagles Golf Association (Lega) will launch a sponsorship for the annual Peter Mokaba Memorial golf tournament today.

The event will be held in Polokwane, for the tournament that is scheduled for June 15, at Polokwane golf course.

The tournament last year attracted golfers from as far as Botswana and Lesotho, with Namibia expected to be on board this year.

Some of the big names that featured last year include ANC stalwart Andrew Mlangeni.

On June 16, the inter-club challenge at Mokopane forms part of the tournament.

"Participation is strictly by invitation. This is the executive committee's resolution to make the tournament to be highly competitive." .

"While we appreciate that in the past we had many players, we want to reduce the field to give all players opportunity to complete their turn," Pat "Fingers" Moyaha, Lega spokesman told Sowetan.

"Those who have been invited should confirm by the June 2. For the first time we have resolved to waive the participation fee of R150 for the memorial game.

However, challenge players are expected to pay R120 for participation." - Matome Lebea
