The South African Under-20 national soccer side, or Amajita, has lined up two matches to sharpen up for the 2009 Africa Youth Championships qualifiers.
The first game will be next Sunday against Angola's Under-20 national team, which will be part of the Cuito Cuanavale battle celebrations.
The following weekend, the South African side will be off to Maseru for a game against their Lesotho counterparts.
South Africa take on Reunion, who eliminated Mozambique. The first leg match will take place on June 27/28 at a venue still to be announced.
Coach Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka, had made it clear that he wanted to assemble the best possible squad for the qualifiers.
With the South African soccer season now over, it is a great opportunity for Letsoaka and his technical team to get some of the youngsters in the Premiership.
These include George Maluleke, Kermit Erasmus (both with SuperSport United), Ramahlwe Mphahlele (Moroka Swallows) and Dylon Claasen (Ajax Cape Town).
"It is important for us to get everybody who has been with this team before, that will also help us try various combinations," said Letsoaka yesterday.
After the Lesotho game, the technical staff plans an extended training camp, to catch up for the time lost during the local soccer season.
Letsoaka also plans to meet Raymond Hack, the chief executive officer of Safa, next week on his return from the Fifa congress in Sydney.
"For the team to qualify for the continental finals and also go to the World Youth Championships, we need a few more training camps," said Letsoaka.
"We did not get an opportunity to work with some of the youngsters who have since been signed by Premiership clubs after we created a platform for them to play."
Molefi Oliphant, Safa president, has said that his federation would support all the youth national teams to do well continentally and globally.
