Mpumalanga police are looking for an alleged rapist who had a piece of his tongue bitten off by his rape victim.

"We are looking for the suspect without a piece of his tongue, which is now in our possession after it was bitten off by the rape victim," said police spokesman Jabu Ndubane.

Ndubane said the 34-year-old woman bit the rapist so hard that a piece of his tongue was cut off as he raped her.

Ndubane said the woman had pretended to be romantic during her ordeal.

"While raping her, the man complained to the woman that she was not moving her hips. But the woman decided to prove to him that she was good in bed," said Ndubane.

"She pretended to cooperate with the man and it was while the man's tongue was in woman's mouth that she bit him so hard that a piece of his tongue remained in her mouth.

"The woman gripped the man's tongue between her teeth for an agonising 15 minutes while the attacker was crying."

Ndubane said the man tried to draw a knife in an effort to stab the woman and free himself but failed.

When the man fled the scene, the woman removed the tongue from her mouth and took it to the police station where she laid a charge of rape.

Ndubane said the woman was returning from a night vigil at Extension 9 in Barberton.

She was followed by an unknown man, and when she reached a secluded area, the man grabbed her and forced himself on her.

Ndubane said anyone with information on the whereabouts of a man without part of his tongue can call Barberton police on 013-712-1448 and ask for Constable Dansile Mahlangu.
