A Gauteng police officer was among seven men who appeared in court on charges of murder, armed robbery and attempted murder on Friday.
Inspector Sipho Simelane, 42, of Brakpan police station in Ekurhuleni is among a gang implicated in a failed heist last week.
Four people were killed in the incident at the Kgobokwane pension payout point near Dennilton in Limpopo.
Simelane and Malungelo Sophaza, 32, Sam Namo, 57, Velly Hlongwane, 38, Frank Matjolo, 60, Johannes Mnisi, 43, and Mozambican national Rocky Masinga were not asked to plead when they appeared in the Moutse West magistrates' court in Limpopo.
Their case was postponed to Friday for bail application.
The men were arrested two days after they allegedly tried to rob the payout point
