Protect women, kids against porn

At last a politician who believes in family values.

At last a politician who believes in family values.

Cape Town deputy mayor Grant Haskin is quoted as saying that the increase in abuse and sexual exploitation of women and children is "a worrying reality".

In August 1993 Cape newspapers reported on the murder of Linsey Boyd. Her murderer, Elvis Jotamo, had paged through a South African girlie magazine and visualised a sexual fantasy with her.

The fantasy became an obsession and led to her violent death. Jotamo throttled her and had sex with her body.

A seven-year-old Steenberg girl was also raped and murdered in 1991. The walls of her murderer's room were found covered with pin-ups.

Before his execution Ted Bundy, a serial killer in the US, said pornography was the common factor among all the serial killers and violent criminals he had come into contact with during his eight years in jail.

I was one of the protesters at the sexpo in Cape Town. A couple, who had just visited the sexpo, walked over a busy main road to thank me for what I was doing.

The man was appalled at what he had seen at the sexpo.

Well done to Haskin, who wants to protect women and children from sordid material and create a family friendly Cape Town.
