Attacks on foreigners seem to be spreading, with two more areas reported to have been affected.
Thirty-two illegal immigrants were attacked at Olifantsfontein near Tembisa yesterday
Police have also reported that several people had been arrested after attacks on foreigners in Diepsloot.
The majority of people attacked in Olifantsfontein were Zimbabwean and Mozambican nationals. After they were rescued the police found that none of them had the proper documentation to be in South africa.
Olifantsfontein police spokesman Raphy Makgoba said when they arrived on the scene all their belongings had been taken from them by thugs.
He said: "After rescuing them we had no alternative but to arrest them for being in the country without proper documentation.
"They were taken to Lindela where they will await deportation to their home countries".
In another incident at Ehlanzeni Section, Tembisa, a resident accused of being an alien was robbed of his valuables, including a DVD player, DVDs, amplifier, a bed and R1700 in cash.
He said the police have opened a case of armed robbery.
