Premier Thabang Makwetla yesterday once again reshuffled the Mpumalanga cabinet.

This is the province's second cabinet reshuffle since February last year.

MEC for health and social services William Lubisi was the only minister to be axed. The others were moved from their current departments to others in a move that saw Makwetla giving the post of MEC for roads and transport to Jackson Mthembu, the ANC provincial chief whip.

MEC Jabu Mahlangu has been moved from culture, sports and recreation to the finance department, formerly headed by Mmathulare Coleman.

Coleman has now been assigned the education department. Former education MEC Siphosezwe Masango has been assigned the safety and security department.

Former roads and transport MEC David Mabuza has been assigned the agriculture and land administration department, while former safety and security MEC Fish Mahlalela has been given the health and social services department.

Former agriculture and land administration MEC Dina Pule has been assigned the culture, sport and recreation department.

Local government and housing MEC Candith Mashego-Dlamini, Craig Padayachee of economic development and planning and public works MEC Madala Masuku will remain in their respective positions.

The premier's aide, Ntime Skosana, said the move was to accelerate service delivery in the province in a spirit of "all hands on the deck". This was part of an on-going effort to further enhance the work of government, he said.
