AmaZulu were yesterday hoping that their forwards, Dumisani Ngwenya and Siyabonga Mkhwanazi, would pass a late fitness test for today's Absa Premiership match against Moroka Swallows in KwaMashu.
The two teams, who are still reeling from defeats in their last matches, meet at Princess Magogo Stadium. Kickoff is at 3pm.
Usuthu missed the services of Ngwenya and Mkhwanazi when they were sent spinning to an embarrassing 0-3 defeat by Ajax Cape Town last Wednesday.
In case these strikers don't make it Clive "The Dog" Barker, AmaZulu coach, could opt for Mpho "Zico" Maleka and Bulelani Matross in his 3-5-2 formation. Barker could also consider Ranado Buckley at a later stage if the combination of Maleka and Matross fails.
In the midfield he should start with the talented Bafo Biyela, who will play in a holding position, with Thabo Mabaso and Mohammed-Awal Issa assisting him in this department.
The hosts' midfield has also been reinforced by the return of Masoeng Sello who should control the right flank of the midfield with Nhlanhla Zwane on the left.
Barker should also consider Jomo Gumede at the back in the absence of Nigerian defender Pere Ariweriyai.
The Birds, who have been blowing hot and cold in their recent matches, have enough in their arsenal to deal with AmaZulu in front of their supporters in KwaMashu.
This even though they have been without the Premiership's leading goal scorer James Chamanga, with 14 goals, who went to China for trials. Sandile Ndlovu can still score goals.
