Soccer administrators and cabinet ministers will be honoured at Sun City tomorrow at a function to celebrate South Africa's winning the 2010 World Cup bid.
It was on May 15 2004 that Sepp Blatter, Fifa president, made the historic announcement in Zurich that South Africa will be the first African country to host the event.
As part of the celebrations, various activities have been lined up, starting with a live broadcast of the Morning Live programme from Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 6am.
The stadium is being upgraded for the 2009 Confederations Cup and World Cup matches by the Bafokeng nation and South African government.
The action will then move to Mogwase Stadium where the World Cup ambassadors will conduct coaching clinics.
Zambian Kalusha Bwalya, Phil "Chippa" Masinga and Mark Fish are some of the ambassadors who will conduct the clinics.
"We have selected 100 children from all the four districts of North West to attend the clinics," said Kennedy Mosiapoa, the North West World Cup coordinator.
"For those who won't be participating, it is also a golden opportunity for them to rub shoulders with some of their role models."
At 2.30pm, there will be a soccer match between a team consisting of the LOC and ambassadors against the Rustenburg host city side.
Also expected to be in the LOC team is former Pretoria Callies and and Mahwelereng Motherwells defender Steve Pila.
In the evening, the LOC will honour various people for their support during the bidding process and cooperation in preparations for the Confederations Cup and World Cup.
The LOC will honour the mayors from the nine World Cup host cities, Safa national executive committee members and cabinet ministers on the LOC board.
Ministers on the board include Makhenkesi Stofile, Jeff Radebe, Sydney Mufamadi, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Essop Pahad.
