Menlyn Shopping Mall in Tshwane will come alive when young fashion designers strut their stuff at the 2008 Old Mutual Vukani Fashion Awards on Saturday.

This year's theme is Youth "Brands" Culture - a Simple Solution for Success.

The awards were the brainchild of the SA Fashion Designers Agency executive president Sonwabile Ndamase.

Safda visits tertiary institutions that offer fashion design and encourages students to submit designs using a specific theme as their inspiration.

According to Ndamase the main aim of the competition is to give deserving young designers the opportunity to start their own fashion lines.

The awards are 14 years old this year.
