Limpopo police arrested two suspects believed to be members of a theft and hijacking syndicate in Lebowakgomo at the weekend.

The suspects were arrested at a house in Zone A in Lebowakgomo. Four suspected stolen vehicles were seized. Police also found equipment used to break into houses, vehicle parts and other valuable items allegedly stolen from houses in the township.

The gang has allegedly been terrorising residents, stealing and hijacking vehicles. Police spokesman Inspector Manong Tshehla said the suspects were arrested after a tip-off from members of the community.

Tshehla said the police had also launched a manhunt for two men who managed to escape.

According to Tshehla the suspects are linked to many cases of armed robbery, hijacking and housebreaking and theft in the area over the past few months. The men will appear in Lebowakgomo magistrates' court this week.
