Women around the globe "had the power" to run world affairs better than men, members of the Voice of Prophecy Apostolic Church were told at the church's celebration of Mother's Day in Daveyton yesterday.
But women were warned not to resort to the kind of measures applied by Delilah, who cut off the biblical Samson's hair to overcome his strength.
Speaking at the celebration, Boni Mahlangu, secretary of the church, said while Christian women did not wish to undermine the "God-given authority" of husbands over their wives, women were better positioned to rule the world than their male counterparts.
Reading from Proverbs Chapter 31 :10-20 , she cited the following as the characters of a noble wife:
"She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is like the merchant ships bringing food from afar.
"She gets up while it is still night, she provides food for her family and for her women servants."
Mahlangu nevertheless warned women not to be blinded by these attributes to such an extent that they forgot the vow they made before God - to be obedient to their partners.
The service was a major shift from normal practice.
After opening the service with prayers, Reverend Satch William Mabona and Bishop Job Nkosi left the running of the service to women members, to mark Mother's Day.
