Rebecca Malope's manager, Stacey Gule, is fuming after music promoter Rodney Dube used the singer's name "illegally" to lure music lovers to a concert.
This was done without the artist's consent.
Dube, a budding promoter, has put up posters saying that Rebecca will perform at the Gospel Music Awards tomorrow in the Sandton Convention Centre.
In a statement Malope said: "I would like to distance myself from this venture and would like to warn the public that no such performance has been agreed to."
Gule told Sowetan that Dube misled the public about Rebecca MC-ing and performing tomorrow.
"Dube has failed to fulfil any of the contractual obligations that are required of him to engage the services of Rebecca for the performance," Gule said.
"I never gave him permission to use Rebecca's name for advertising.
"Moreover, he has been avoiding our calls when I wanted to discuss the matter."
But Dube maintained he had an agreement with Gule for Rebecca's services, though he failed to produce proof that he had paid or had an agreement with her manager.
