May is Africa Month and as part of its programmes the Africa Institute of SA (AISA), City of Tshwane and Northern Flagship Institution are hosting a seminar about the role of women in developing countries today in the Council Chamber at Sammy Marks Square.
Tshwane mayor Gwen Ramokgopa will open the discussion forum titled "The contribution of women in a protracted developmental society".
Other speakers include Ayesha Kajee of the International Human Rights Exchange, Shanaaz Bulbulia of the IAJ, and Laura Kganyago of Women's National Coalition.
AISA spokesman Matthew Wate said the seminar would give women a chance to interact with leaders about issues affecting Africa.
Topics for discussion are women in the media in a developmental society, peace and security in Africa, women in the science and technology sector, gender dynamics and women's rights in the continent.
