Two men accused of kidnapping a Vaal man and demanding a R50000 ransom appeared briefly in the Wynberg magistrate's court yesterday.

The two were denied bail on Tuesday.

Senzo Mbatha, 26, and Mhlaliseni Shezi, 25, both of Alexandra, appeared on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.

The case was postponed to May 29.

It is alleged that on April 21 they kidnapped a man and demanded a R50000 ransom from his wife.

The police said the two kidnapped the man in the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, where they had met to conclude an illegal deal involving driver's licences.

The two were arrested the next day when they walked into a police trap after the man's wife had alerted the police.

Wynberg police denied reports that a third man had turned himself in. - Penwell Dlamini
